App Ads

Mobile app ads help you get more people to install and engage with your app. This guide is for software developers who are setting up an app for app ads. It contains technical instructions on how to set up and help optimize delivery of your mobile app ads. If you aren't already familiar with app ads, you can start by reading the background information at Ads Help Center; App ads. Then come back here for implementation details.

If you're not a developer, we recommend that you get help to complete your app setup:

  • Get a developer to help, or
  • If you or your organization are working with a Facebook Marketing Partner, your partner can complete all the technical setup you need.

Once app setup is complete, you can create and run app ads in Ads Manager.

High-Level Steps

You will need to register as a developer in order to complete these steps. To register, go to developers.facebook.com, click the My Apps link, and complete the registration steps.

  1. Register your app using the App Dashboard.
  2. Add the platforms on which you deliver your app. See App Setup.
  3. Install the Facebook iOS SDK or Android SDK in your app. This is optional, but highly recommended, because it allows for more granular tracking and ad targeting.
  4. Add App Events - Optional, but recommended for targeted delivery of your ads to people most likely to take action. The App Events API is included in your SDK. You can also use the Codeless App Events tool.
  5. Verify Your App Ads Setup - Use this developer tool to check that your app is set up for the most efficient ads delivery.
  6. Create mobile app ads for your mobile or desktop app. The fastest way is using the Ads Manager.
