A graduate of Seoul National University and a Master of Finance, Sophie Eom quit her well-paying corporate job to start a business in the information technology and services space. After her business was acquired, Sophie was keen to build something bigger and more impactful. She launched Adriel, a marketing technology company that uses AI technologies to help small, bootstrapped businesses run online ads. Within eight months, it had grown to more than 2,000 clients in 20 countries.

With fast-paced growth came growing pains, It quickly became apparent to Sophie that she needed outside advice to help her manage the obstacles that come with the next phase of business growth, including funding, product development and resourcing to name a few.
To propel Adriel to the next stage, Sophie turned to the Facebook Accelerator program in South Korea. The program connected Sophie to people with similar business challenges and provided individual mentoring and problem-solving sessions with Facebook employees.
Describing the program as empowering and encouraging, Sophie says it was the single biggest positive influence at the time. “Meeting with and listening to some of Facebook’s female employees was hugely encouraging – I strongly recommend it for others in my position,” she said.
Beyond that, the program also provided Sophie with advice and knowledge for growing her business, including insights on product development, user research and marketing strategy. "The Facebook Accelerator program not only introduced me to mentors who gave me practical support to grow my business but also connected me with successful startups who have encountered similar business challenges. I learned a lot from them by listening and talking to the leaders of these startups in person."
With Adriel’s online advertising solution, small businesses are able to compete despite tight budgets and limited expertise in digital advertising. Since joining the Facebook Accelerator program, Adriel’s client base has been growing 30% each month.
