About F8 Refresh
While we had to make the difficult decision of cancelling F8 last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a pause in our annual developer conference allowed us to reassess our strategy and the best path forward for the event and our developer community. For the first time ever, F8 Refresh will be a fully virtual stage, open to developers across the globe and completely free. F8 Refresh will celebrate the developers, creators, entrepreneurs, and innovators building on our platforms and tools. We are shifting the focus back to the developer community and will feature the latest Meta technologies that directly impact developers.

Why is it called F8 Refresh this year?
F8 Refresh is different from past F8 events - it will be a single day, fully virtual event. Over the last year, our community of developers enabled growth for businesses of all sizes to adapt to a changed world and accelerate their digital transformation. In recognition of this, we want to bring F8 back to its roots: a place to celebrate, inspire and help developers grow. Our theme for this year’s event is “Build together. Grow together” and we are shifting the focus of the event back to the developer community. F8 Refresh will feature the latest Meta technologies that directly impact developers.

F8 Refresh is for all developers and businesses who want to learn more about Meta technologies, and the innovative work of the developers who are using them.

Hackathon
Will there be a hackathon at F8 Refresh?
The F8 Refresh Hackathon will take place prior to the event on May 3 - 10. Participants will form teams with fellow innovators and choose between two product challenge areas - Spark AR Creators and Wit.ai - while receiving special access to resources and experts. Participants will have the chance to win up to USD$100,000 in cash prizes. Registration has ended.
