# 2026 Out-Of-Cycle Changes

2026 out-of-cycle changes to Marketing API.

### June 28, 2026

### Advantage+ creative: Image Animation

*Applies to all versions.*

Image Animation is now available as an Advantage+ creative enhancement through the Marketing API. When enabled, a static image in your ad is automatically transformed into a short, subtly animated video to make your creative more engaging. Opt in to or out of this feature per creative through the `image_animation` field in `degrees_of_freedom_spec.creative_features_spec`.

See [Get Started with Advantage+ Creative](https://developers.facebook.com/documentation/ads-commerce/marketing-api/creative/advantage-creative/get-started) for more information.

The following endpoints are affected:

- `POST /act_{ad-account-id}/adcreatives`
- `POST /act_{ad-account-id}/ads`

### Advantage+ creative: Video Filter

*Applies to all versions.*

Video Filter is now available as an Advantage+ creative enhancement through the Marketing API. When enabled, a visual enhancement is automatically applied to your video creative — for example, improving color or converting standard dynamic range (SDR) video to high dynamic range (HDR) — to make it more visually appealing. Opt in to or out of this feature per creative through the `video_filtering` field in `degrees_of_freedom_spec.creative_features_spec`.

See [Get Started with Advantage+ Creative](https://developers.facebook.com/documentation/ads-commerce/marketing-api/creative/advantage-creative/get-started) for more information.

The following endpoints are affected:

- `POST /act_{ad-account-id}/adcreatives`
- `POST /act_{ad-account-id}/ads`

### Advantage+ creative: Video Uncrop

*Applies to all versions.*

Video Uncrop is now available as an Advantage+ creative enhancement through the Marketing API. When enabled, your video is automatically expanded (uncropped) to better fit the aspect ratio of additional placements — for example, filling vertical, full-screen surfaces instead of cropping or letterboxing your video. Opt in to or out of this feature per creative through the `video_uncrop` field in `degrees_of_freedom_spec.creative_features_spec`.

See [Get Started with Advantage+ Creative](https://developers.facebook.com/documentation/ads-commerce/marketing-api/creative/advantage-creative/get-started) for more information.

The following endpoints are affected:

- `POST /act_{ad-account-id}/adcreatives`
- `POST /act_{ad-account-id}/ads`

### Transitioning from Nielsen DMAs to Comscore Markets

*Applies to all versions.*

Effective June 22, 2026, we are transitioning from Nielsen Designated Market Areas (DMAs) to Comscore Markets across ads targeting and reporting solutions. When requesting market-level data via the Ads Insights API, `breakdowns=dma` will no longer be supported; to retrieve market-level data, please instead use `breakdowns=comscore_market`.

For more information about Comscore Markets, please see our [Help Center](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/613598594743379).

The following endpoints are affected:
- `GET /{ad-object-id}/insights`
- `POST /{ad-object-id}/insights`

### Creator Marketplace
*Applies to all versions.*

The Creator Marketplace API now includes several new capabilities for discovering and evaluating creators:

* **Expanded filtering:**
New follower count filters (100k-250k, 250k-1M, and 1M+) and US state-level filtering are now available for both creators and audiences.

* **Tailored creator recommendations:**
A new `recommendation_type` filter returns curated sets of creators based on specific criteria: most relevant for me, high ad performance, most ads experience, similar brands, and similar audience.

* **Creator badges:**
A new `badges` field is available when querying creator profile.

* **Thumbnail URL:**
A new `thumbnail_url` field is available when querying creator media.

* **Ads Manager integration:**
You can now discover creators whose followers closely match a saved Custom or Lookalike audience from Ads Manager, searching saved audiences by name or audience ID. Agencies pass their own business ID via the `acting_business_id` parameter to use a client's audiences.

See [Creator Marketplace API](https://developers.facebook.com/documentation/instagram-platform/instagram-api-with-facebook-login/creator-marketplace) for more information.

### IG Audio Swap for Instagram Reels Ads

*Applies to all versions.*

New parameters on `POST /act_{id}/advideos` to replace copyrighted music on Instagram Reels with royalty-free audio from Meta's Sound Collection. Pass `source_instagram_media_id` with `selected_audio_spec` to create an ad video asset with swapped audio.

New `replace_audio_status` and `selected_audio_spec` fields on `GET /{ad-video-id}` to poll async audio swap completion. Check `replace_audio_status` until it returns `SUCCESSFUL` before using the swapped video in ad creative creation.

The following endpoints are affected:

- `POST /act_{id}/advideos`
- `GET /{ad-video-id}`

### Ads Insights API -- Breakdown availability changes

*Applies to all API versions, effective August 6, 2026.*

Beginning August 6, 2026, the following Ads Insights API breakdowns will require opt-in for certain ad accounts:

1. `breakdowns=impression_device` (including any combination that contains `impression_device`)
2. `breakdowns=hourly_stats_aggregated_by_audience_time_zone`
3. `breakdowns=frequency_value`

**What's changing**

Synchronous API requests using these breakdowns may return no results for ad accounts that have not opted in. This applies to non-sales-supported accounts only; sales-supported accounts are unaffected.

**How to maintain access**

| Path | Details |
| :---- | :---- |
| **Opt in via Ads Manager** | Account administrators can request access to these breakdowns directly in Ads Manager. Once opted in, synchronous API calls will continue to work as expected. |
| **Use asynchronous API jobs** | Asynchronous report jobs remain available for all your history as long as you opted in. Async jobs are subject to the standard throttling quota: `min(10, number_of_ad_groups) per 24 hours`. |

The following endpoints are affected:

- `GET /{ad-campaign-id}/insights`

**Recommended action**

If your application depends on any of the breakdowns listed above, update your integration to (a) handle the case where synchronous calls return no results, (b) prompt affected advertisers to opt in through Ads Manager, or (c) fall back to asynchronous report jobs.

For questions, see the [Ads Insights API Breakdowns documentation](https://developers.facebook.com/docs/marketing-api/insights/breakdowns) or [Developer Support](https://developers.facebook.com/support/).

### Performance Recommendations

*Applies to all versions.*

The `lift_estimate` field in the `recommendation` object now incorporates a new data source to provide personalized insights for eligible campaigns. This change applies to a subset of campaigns where the new data source is available; campaigns without coverage will continue to return existing values. No action is required from developers.

See [Performance Recommendations](https://developers.facebook.com/documentation/ads-commerce/marketing-api/overview/performance-recommendations) for more information.
