Business Verification

In order to be able to publish Real Estate listings on Marketplace, your business needs to be verified.

Step 1: check if your business is already verified

  1. Go to https://business.facebook.com/settings/info
  2. If you have more than one business, select the relevant one
  3. Under the "Business Info" section, you should find your Business verification status

If you see something similar to the following image, your business is already verified.

Facebook may reach out if you need to sign the Supplemental Terms / Extended Platform Terms and the Tech Provider Amendment.

My business is not verified

If your business is not verified, you should see something like this:

You can start the verification by clicking on Start Verification button.

What to do if the Start Verification button is disabled?

This happens when you don't have any app associated to your business. To start a business verification, you need to have at least one app associated. Navigate to Accounts > Apps, you should see the following screen:

By clicking on "+ Add", you will need to specify an app ID in any case. You can manage or create apps from the developer center: https://developers.facebook.com/apps/.

After adding the app in the above screen, go to Business Info again to start the business verification. If the "Start Verification" button is still disabled, try to refresh the page.

Step 2: start business verification

Please notice that verification documents will be sent to the business owner's email address. Once you've started the verification process, you can check your verification status in this section. Enter your business details, upload your verification documents and verify your contact phone number or email.

You'll be asked to send official documents to verify your organization. The information you'll write in this dialog must match the ones in the official document that you have, otherwise Facebook won't be able to proceed with the verification.

Step 3: start app review

In order to receive leads, your app will need to request additional permissions and be reviewed. You can review apps or create a new one at https://developers.facebook.com/apps.

In the basic settings, you will need to fill in at least the following information:

  • App icon
  • Privacy Policy URL
  • Category (most likely for Real Estate partners: Business and Pages)
  • Business Use (most likely for Real Estate partners: Provide services to other businesses)

Scroll down, click on "+ Add Platform", and choose "Website". Add your website's URL.

The website URL is going to be verified - be sure to have some official documentation to prove that your organization owns the domain you specify in this field.

Navigate to "App Review" > "Current Request", then "Add additional permissions and features".

You will need to request manage_pages and leads_retrieval permissions.

You'll now need to explain how you're going to use these permissions. Click on "Continue the request" on top, or on "Continue" in manage_pages or leads_retrieval section.

Tell us how you'll use manage_pages

In the dialog that follows, make sure to click on the "I agree" check, then write a short description in the textarea, example:

  • "We're requesting this permission because it's a requirement for "leads_retrieval" permission."

Turn on the "Server-to-Server" switch. Write an explanation in the textarea, example:

  • "Marketplace Real Estate leads are sent by Facebook to an endpoint (webhook) to our server. We then use the lead data received for the only purposes related to the service provided and in compliance with the beta agreement we signed as Marketplace partner."

Tell us how you'll use leads_retrieval

In the dialog that follows, review the check box and click "I agree" when you are ready to proceed, then write a short description in the textarea, example:

  • "We are a Marketplace Real Estate partner. We are a {PLATFORM/SERVICE}, and we offer to our clients (e.g. real estate agencies), the possibility to publish their listings on Marketplace. We are requesting an app review to access leads and forward them to the agencies that own the listings."

Click on "Provide verification details".

  • Activate the checkbox “My app doesn't use Facebook Login";
  • Activate the checkbox “I confirm I've completed the required steps”.
  • Save.

Click on "Submit for Review"

  • Accept the terms and submit.

What to expect after the submission

We'll contact you during the app review process: you'll need to follow the instructions that you'll receive in the notifications of your app's dashboard, business manager interface, and email.

The process is normally quick (a couple of days), and it depends also on the partner's responsiveness in case Facebook needs further information or clarifications.
