Free Basics makes the internet accessible to more people by providing them access to a range of free basic services like news, maternal health, travel, local jobs, sports, communication, and local government information.
To date, we’ve been able to offer these services to a billion people across Asia, Africa and Latin America. By introducing people to the benefits of the internet through these services, we hope to bring more people online and help improve their lives.
Free Basics is part of the Internet.org by Facebook initiative.
With Free Basics Platform, we’ve made it easy for any developer to create services that integrate with Free Basics. Our goal is to work with as many developers as possible to extend the benefits of connectivity to diverse, local communities around the world.
We are particularly interested in working with organizations focused on education, health, economic empowerment, civic participation and critical information and can support them through our Social Good opportunities through FbStart.
Reach millions of new internet users: Provide free access to your service to people already using Free Basics on their mobile phones across Asia, Africa, and South America.
Provide useful tools and information: People are already using these free services to do things like access health, education, and jobs information, as well as stay in touch with friends and family. Make sure people can find and use your service, too.
Share local content with local communities: Free Basics wants to provide information and tools as diverse as the people using them, especially content and services in local languages.
Adapt your existing service or mobile app: Follow our technical guidelines to make sure your service is optimized for browsing on both feature and smartphones and in limited bandwidth scenarios.
