There may be differences between your version of AR Studio and this tutorial because the product is currently in beta and we update it regularly.

Tutorial: Using AR Studio Player

Something Went Wrong
We're having trouble playing this video.

Once you've built a project in AR Studio, you can use the AR Studio Player app to:

  1. Preview and test it using your mobile device.
  2. View previous versions of your projects.

Download AR Studio Player and the sample content to follow along with this tutorial

Before You Start

You'll need:

  1. An iOS or Android mobile device with AR Studio Player installed.
  2. A USB cable.
  3. A computer with AR Studio installed.
  4. A saved project - you can use our sample content.

Testing Projects

First, connect your mobile device to your computer with the USB cable.

Open the AR Studio app. If you're opening it for the first time you'll be asked:

  1. To enable access to some features, like your camera and microphone.
  2. To turn on developer mode and USB debugging in your phone settings, if you're using an Android device.

Once you've done that:

  1. Go to AR Studio on your computer.
  2. Open the project you want to test.
  3. Click Mirror in the toolbar - the Mirror button will be grayed out if a mobile device isn't connected.

You should now see the effect playing on your mobile device.

Viewing Previous Versions of Effects

AR Studio Player stores a version of your effect whenever you click Mirror in the AR Studio toolbar.

You can view earlier versions of projects you've previously mirrored on your device, without being connected to your computer or the internet.

To toggle between versions:

  1. Open AR Studio Player.
  2. Tap the menu in the top left.
  3. Select the effect you want to view, and the version.
  4. Tap Done.

You should now see the previous version playing on your device.

If you're having trouble previewing your project, make sure you have the latest versions of both AR Studio and AR Studio Player installed. If the tool and the app versions are incompatible, you won't be able to mirror.

If that doesn't help, check:

  1. Your mobile device is connected to your computer correctly.
  2. You've clicked Mirror in the toolbar.
  3. You've saved your project at least once before.
