Has anyone managed to solve this? The first time it failed I recreated all the templates and it worked with the new ones for a few days. It failed again, I created the templates again and this time it didn't work anymore.

I deleted all the templates, webhook and my entire phone number, and started everything all over again, and it is working now. Not a pretty solution, but I hope it works for you too!

It works. Create a new template, the old ones don't work, but the new ones do.

Looks like it is an issue from meta and specifically for numbers added recently. I have an existing meta business account with a phone number added way before 6 months, and it's working without any problem. But when I added a new number last month, then this error started to appear. Then I removed the recently added number and my app with the old number worked without any instance of this error.

So I thought the new number is the culprit. I created a new business portfolio account and added that number, and it worked for a day. From the next day onwards, it started throwing the same Error #135000: Generic user error.

My observation is it works out of the blue and after 1-2 days of successful API calls, it starts throwing the same error for 1-2 days. This has been constantly happening for 15 days.

Then I purchased a new number and added it to the new business portfolio, done verification successfully, and it worked for a couple of days but again the same error is coming for that 2nd new number too.

Raised like 3-4 direct support tickets to the meta team and they are really really really lazy people. Firstly, they respond once in 2-3 days. First, they most probably either close the ticket with a message saying that your API request or endpoint may be invalid or will ask for additional info. Then, they would take a day or two. Meantime, as this issue is inconsistent, shared API explorer with support sometimes works and they come up with a solution saying there is no error.

Summary

  • Meta business account with old number works fine.
  • Added new number, started getting Error #135000: Generic user error.
  • Created new business portfolio account, added the same number, worked for a day, then same error.
  • Purchased a new number, added to business portfolio, worked for a couple of days, then same error.
  • Raised 3-4 support tickets to meta team, but responses are slow and inconsistent.

Next Steps

  1. Try to observe the pattern and timing of when the error occurs.
  2. Follow up with meta support consistently.
  3. Document all interactions and observations to provide more detailed feedback to support.

For further details, refer to the official Meta Business Help Center.
