Fake purchase event can be fired from a checkout page by entering a code to developer tools. This messes up the storeowners' pixel data and according to FB business support, it can't be reversed.
Support told me that the only way to reset the metrics is to delete or turn off the campaign.
So If I have a well-optimized campaign with let's say a million in spend and someone fires a fake pixel event with a ridiculous conversion value. Then I would just delete the campaign and start over?
This is absolutely ridiculous, surely there has to be another solutions.
Hello - I am dealing with Pixel "hacking"on my website also. This has made me unprofitable. I had a 4 roas and now I cannot get a purchase due to these pixel hackers. Your help would be great because I'm getting a lot more browser events rather than API events where they'd usually both be the same and its clear as I can see the purchase link where they were from and it was all from the product page. This isn't acceptable I personally think and a solution to this would be great.

Having the same issue on my shopify site and looks like all the fake ones come from l.facebook.com and a windows OS. Is this what you're seeing too?
they usually come from facebook but doesnt matter what windows. Anyone can just go to your website and fire the pixel event and mess up your data
I'm having a similar problem now. Have several bots who are firing pixel events on my website :(
Did you manage to fix this somehow?
I created a custom event and used this as a custom conversion with the value. I also created a custom conversion where the purchase event fires but only on the correct page as in a few cases I've worked with the fake purchase was happening on a product page.
You can also see if you can determine where the bots are hitting from and set up a firewall rule to block the country they are coming from.
To some degree. Created a custom conversion and based it on the purchase event AND the actual checkout page url. It's not perfect but at least you have real purchases to count.

i agree this is ridiculous. Facebook should have a solution to ban these people. It's nasty!
