Link Post Image Preview Issue on Scheduled Posts
21

We're experiencing a weird issue when scheduling post that contain a link.

When creating the post, the link preview fetches and displays the image okay. Once scheduled the image also shows in the planner with no issue.

However, once the post goes live the image is missing... is anyone else experiencing this issue / or knows how to resolve it?

I’m experiencing exactly the same issue since last week.

The link preview image displays correctly while creating and scheduling the post, but disappears after the scheduled post is published. The title and description remain visible.

Editing and republishing the post restores the image, but this workaround only works in the desktop browser. It does not restore the preview in the Facebook or Meta Business Suite mobile apps.

The issue affects multiple websites, not just my own.

We have been experiencing the same issue for quite some time now. Unfortunately, Meta Support was not able to identify a solution and referred us to this community.

Same. Spent a few hours with Meta Support this morning and their current solution is to publish the posts live or continue to go back and republish the scheduled posts since those are the only ways the link image is showing up.

Having the same issue for the past two weeks. The only thing I've been able to do is edit and save each post as soon as it is published. Pretty annoying, honestly, will be grateful for a better solution.

I am also experiencing this issue and it has been ongoing for weeks.

Confirming the same issue. I tested with other Facebook Pages and different websites (including sites we don't operate ourselves): every scheduled link post loses its preview image at publish time, while title and description remain. Immediate posts work fine. On our own site we ruled out everything server-side: og tags incl. image dimensions set, facebookexternalhit fetches with HTTP 200 in the logs, Sharing Debugger shows no warnings. Editing the published post in a desktop browser without changes and saving restores the image, which points to the attachment being rebuilt incorrectly at publish time. OK they are cumbersome but two workaround options.

  1. From user @Big_Maintenance2026 on Reddit: Scheduling the same link post through the native composer on the Page itself ("What's on your mind?" box) instead of through Business Suite's Planner works correctly, image is preserved.

  2. Another workaround I have found (although, still has to happen after the scheduled link is posted) is that from the profile page you can click the three dots to the top right of the post and click Refresh Share Attachment. It's a slightly faster process than going back and editing the old posts, but still a little cumbersome.

I have passed both of these along to my case manager at Meta.

Thanks for info about the first solution. I'll try use it.

This workaround no longer works for me. It only works through the Professional Dashboard.

Same has been happening for myself. Schedule planner using default image from link is gone, text remains, and is unattractive on it's own. Less posting getting done as I do better when I have a reserved amount of time where I can plan posts for days out.

Same issue here: Preview shows correctly when creating and in the planner, image is gone once the scheduled post goes live. We ruled out our side: og:image with width/height is set, our server logs show facebookexternalhit fetching the article with HTTP 200, and the image server responds in under 0.3s. So this is happening at publish time on Meta's side? Has anyone found a bug report ID in the Bug Tool to subscribe to?

I’m having the same problem. For scheduled posts, the images don’t appear when sharing links. When I schedule the post, everything looks fine, and it also displays correctly in Meta Business Suite. The issue only shows up when the post is actually shared. This has been happening for me since July 13. I haven’t found any solution since then, and there hasn’t been any fix from Meta either.
