Since the June 9, 2026 Accounts Center migration, Instagram Business Login is failing for some accounts with this error:
OAuthException: Your account's future activity history off Meta technologies is currently turned off.
The problem: the old "Connect future activity" toggle that this error refers to no longer exists. It was replaced by "Activity from other businesses." Setting that replacement to Allow does NOT fix it. The auth dialog completes, then OAuth fails with no code returned, still citing the deprecated future activity flag. There is no user-facing setting left to change, so affected users cannot resolve this themselves.
It looks account-level, not config-level. Other accounts with identical setup, account type, and app permissions connect fine. Only certain migrated accounts are stuck.
We run a third-party Instagram integration and multiple paying users are now blocked by this, with no remediation we can offer them.
Two things I'm hoping to figure out:
Is anyone else hitting this after June 9? Trying to gauge how widespread it is. Has anyone found a workaround that actually clears it (toggle reset, account type switch, re-migration, anything)?
And to the Meta platform team: which internal flag is this check validating, and is there an account-level reset to clear the stale state? Happy to share account IDs, app ID, and logs.

We are experiencing exactly the same issue with our Instagram professional account.

We use Instagram API with Instagram Login.
The Instagram account has been added as an Instagram Tester, and the tester invitation has been accepted successfully.
When we go to App Dashboard > Instagram > API Setup > Step 2 "Generate access tokens" and click "Generate token", the OAuth flow fails immediately with:
OAuthException: Your account's future activity history off Meta technologies is currently turned off. Please visit account center to change it.
The old "Connect future activity" / "Your activity off Meta technologies" setting is no longer available in Accounts Center.
The replacement "Activity from other businesses" setting is already set to Allow for this account.
We have also removed and re-added the Instagram account, accepted the tester invitation again, and retried authorization. The same OAuthException persists.
Because OAuth fails before an authorization code is returned, we cannot generate an Instagram User Access Token and therefore cannot enable the webhook subscription for this account.
Please investigate the account-level legacy "future activity" flag for @agniva_pro and reset or re-provision it, or provide a supported workaround for accounts affected by the June 2026 Accounts Center migration.
This issue is blocking production use of Instagram Messaging API for this business account.

Update — Aug 16, 2026:
We retried the OAuth flow today for the same professional account @agniva_pro.
The Instagram consent screen now opens successfully and displays all requested permissions, including "Access and manage messages".
After selecting Allow, however, the OAuth flow still fails with:
400 Session Invalid. OAuthException: Your account's future activity history off Meta technologies is currently turned off.
The failure now happens AFTER the user explicitly approves the requested Instagram permissions, but before the authorization flow completes and before an access token is returned.
This indicates that the issue is not related to missing permissions, the Instagram Tester role, or the app configuration, but to the account-level legacy "future activity" state checked by Meta's OAuth backend.

My app is facing the same issue with auth. After user accepts oauth they reach the same error
OAuthException "future activity off Meta technologies is turned off"
And can't do anything.
