Deadline Approaching: Re-request Permissions for Marketing API and Lead Ads Retrieval API

January 28, 2019ByEthan Goldman-Kirst

As announced last year, developers using the Marketing API or Lead Ads Retrieval API need to re-request permissions by February 1, 2019 to use these APIs and any related permissions. As part of this permission request, apps using Marketing API and Lead Ads Retrieval API will need to go through App Review and Business Verification or Individual Verification, depending on your business status.

After February 1, we will start to automatically enroll apps into the review process that have not already been enrolled. If your app is enrolled by Facebook, you will receive a notification in the App Dashboard, and the review process will begin. If we need more information to approve your app, we will notify you, and you will have 30 days to respond to the request for additional information. If action is not taken within that timeframe, your app will lose access to the Marketing API, Lead Ads Retrieval API, and any other API that requires approval.

We understand that the new app review process may require additional work on the part of our developers, but we believe that App Review and the verification processes are integral to maintaining trust on our platform and providing the best possible experience for users. We're also committed to providing the best experience for developers, and we are continually working to improve the Facebook platform processes.
