Start Your Own Group

Meetups are a great way to learn, get project feedback, and meet other developers in your area. Starting a meetup is simple:

  • Let people know
  • Choose a location
  • Find speakers

Let people know

There are lots of ways to connect with other developers in your area. Facebook Groups and Meetup.com are great ways to organize. Spread the word however you can!

To help you get started, we will cover the organizer dues on Meetup for the first 50 approved groups. To qualify, your meetup topic must be Facebook platform-related, and your group should meet at least once per quarter. Interested? Send an email with a content plan for your first meeting to developerevents@fb.com.

Location

When looking for a meeting space, make sure it has any A/V equipment you need, and a network powerful enough to host your audience and their devices. Many tech companies are willing to host meetups in their offices; restaurants, hotels, and coworking spaces are also good choices.

Speakers

Depending on the interests of your group, you may want to have an expert speaker, or have group members talk about their current projects and get feedback. Set clear expectations about the content of your meetup, so the people who attend will have the best experience possible.

We're excited to see your group grow. Get in touch with us at developerevents@fb.com if you would like us to add your event to the meetup event calendar.
