Designing Stream Stories With Action Links

Supplemental Materials › Examples and Explanations › Designing Stream Stories With Action Links

When designing a Stream story, it’s important to note that a custom Action Link can be added next to Like and Comment links to drive users towards a specific destination. This is an effective means to elicit a call to action from both new and existing users.

Open Graph – Action Links

Open Graph Action Links are customizable links that provide a way for people to take an action in your app directly from within News Feed, Timeline, or Ticker. As a best practice, Action Links should replicate an authentic action users can take in your app.

Please do not use any wording that doesn’t properly represent an experience from your app, and do not include advertisements or cross-promotion (such as “powered by [advertiser]” or “sponsored by [advertiser]”). Action Links do not need to point users to any specific location, but if they do direct the user to a location, it needs to be to the same app that generated the story.

In addition, Action Links should not emulate actions that could be easily mistakable as a Facebook action. Please do not use the following terms: Like, Unlike, Comment, Share, Sponsored, Follow Post, Unfollow Post, Read, Watch or Listen.
