Driving Distribution with Open Graph

Documentation › Open Graph Concepts › Driving Distribution with Open Graph

On average, OG stories now have 50% higher click through rates than similar non-OG stories. See the following story formats to better understand their story layout differences:

  • Location-led Stories
  • Image-led Stories

Location-led Stories

Recent changes to the way we render location-led Open Graph stories has resulted in double-digit gains in distribution to existing Open Graph apps and even more when compared to non-Open Graph stories using the stream.publish or graph api equivalent /me/feed/ post method.

Image-led Stories

The new 200 x 200px image-led stories have shown 70% more clicks for apps that provide high quality, relevant imagery with low spam rates. This has also generate up to 50x more Like feedback than equivalent story types before, for some developers.

News Feed story generated by an Open Graph posting using an image size smaller than 200 x 200px. Note that non-Open Graph stories, like those posted using `/me/feed/` will also generate an image similar to the one shown here, even if that post is using an image size of 200 x 200px or greater.

Note: we consider various factors such as image quality, spam rates, and click rates when determining how the story is rendered, so you may not see the story show up in your News Feed when testing.
