How do you power up an already thriving web business? This is a question that Gregg Spiridellis, co-founder and CEO of JibJab, thinks about everyday. JibJab has been producing and distributing original online programming since 1999. From electronic cards that you can customize with the faces of your friends to political and pop culture comedy videos, JibJab is in the business of helping people share laughs.

Despite the fact that the company has served over 100 million visitors in the past twelve months and currently has over 6 million registered users, Gregg, his brother Evan (in charge of JibJab's creative efforts), and their team are constantly focused on growing the company's user base.

Enter Facebook Connect

When Facebook Platform was first released, we were in awe of its viral potential, but we didn't want to rebuild our website in a canvas page. Facebook Connect enabled us to integrate social data directly into our own branded experience on the JibJab.com domain and that's when we put the pedal to the metal on Connect

JibJab integrated numerous Facebook Connect features deeply into their website including simplified login, access to friends, birthday data, access to user photos and friend's photos, and most importantly, distribution capabilities for a user to post content to their own stream or to a friend's Wall.

The Results

Before Facebook Connect there was a lot of friction in our user experience. Users had to create an account, find photos of their friends on their desktops, and remember and type in the email addresses of everyone they wanted to share our content with. With Facebook Connect a user can sign in and interact with our site in just a couple of clicks, and the ability to publish into the Stream or a friend's Wall has been like rocket fuel for the viral growth of our content. If someone uses email to share the content they created on JibJab, they send it to 3 people on average. When someone publishes to Facebook, we see 20 clicks back to JibJab.com! In just 2 months, the Facebook Connect integration has attracted over 100,000 active users!
