Platform Updates: Operation Developer Love

February 26, 2011ByJeff Bowen

This week, we made it easier to find and accept developer requests and made more progress improving browser performance for HTML5 Games by releasing JSGameBench version 0.3.

Startup Day

As part of our commitment to Startup America Partnership, we held a Startup Day last week at Facebook. Over 10 startups came to hack and brainstorm site and app integrations using Facebook Platform to build in “social at the core.”

Roach Motel

As part of Operation Developer Love, we have been ramping up our efforts to triage our backlog of bugs from the past 3 years. Every month we host a “Roach Motel” day, where the team works through the bugs backlog trying to reproduce issues and filing them for our engineering team if they are reproducable. We are constantly improving our process and know that we have a long way to go. We appreciate your feedback and patience.

Update to big profile picture width

Beginning March 1st, retrieving the big profile picture may return profile pictures with a maximum width of 180 pixels. You can access the big profile picture by:

The width change comes as a result of the new profile. Any user that uploads a new profile picture will not have the 200px copy, so we will serve the URL for the 180px copy. This transition will be gradual, occurring as more users upload new profile pictures.
